Appealing a PCN parking ticket

If you think you’ve been unfairly issued a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) from a local authority for parking your car, you have the right to appeal it.

The grounds of appeal for a parking ticket are limited and you have to act within a certain period of time. You cannot pay the PCN under protest and then later appeal.

Get the appeal process right, however, and there’s a strong chance of success. Although few people appeal the PCN they've been issued, two thirds of those that do win their case. Knowing where you stand legally and providing the right type of evidence will strengthen your case.
