If you aren’t happy with a car rental or leasing company

Problems with car rental and leasing can be tricky to resolve. You might feel that the model of vehicle you’ve been offered at the desk isn’t what you asked for. Perhaps the hire car you’re using has turned out to be faulty. Or you could be in a disagreement over money that’s been deducted from your deposit. And what do you do if you’re being blamed for damage you didn’t cause? Or charged a lot of money for a small scratch or dent?

Refunds, discounts and replacement vehicles

If you’ve hired or leased a vehicle that doesn’t match the description you were given or doesn’t work as it should, you’ll often be protected by your consumer rights. You might be entitled to a refund, a discount in your rental or lease agreement, or a replacement vehicle. And a rental company isn’t allowed to charge an excessive amount for any necessary repairs.

How we can help

Our legal experts will help you understand what your position is if you aren’t happy with your car rental or lease agreement. They’ll equip you with the knowledge you need to try to resolve the problem informally. If you’ve hired a car abroad, they can still help you know the best way to get your problem sorted out. And if you aren’t satisfied with how the rental or lease company responds, we’ll tell you what steps to take next. We’ll:

  • listen to what’s gone wrong
  • help you understand what resolution you might be able to get
  • tell you who to contact next
