Making ends meet while studying at university or college can be tough. Student loans only go so far and even if working part time, sometimes it can be hard to get through the month. If you can’t afford your rent, it's important to speak to your landlord and let them know, rather than just defaulting on the payment. They might be willing to agree to a payment plan.
Ultimately if you don’t pay your rent, your landlord can begin proceedings to evict you. There is a set process they must follow and if they don’t, it might delay matters. They can also pursue you for any unpaid rent so it is important that you don’t pretend like the issue will go away. It is best to avoid having a County Court Judgment against your name as this will affect your ability to gain credit.
